Meet your Facilitator

Hi, my name is Colleen, and I am so glad you are here.

I know scoliosis can feel confusing and overwhelming. There is so much information out there and sometimes not nearly enough.
What are my options?
What will be best for my child?
What if I am making the wrong decision?
How can I help them cope when I can barely cope myself?

If these thoughts sound familiar, you are not alone.

My scoliosis journey began when I was 11 years old, but it was never just my journey. My parents and my sister were deeply part of it too. I still remember sitting in the surgeon’s office, hearing how severe my scoliosis was and being told I should have had surgery “yesterday.” I remember my mom holding me while we both cried, and my dad sitting there quietly, trying to process it all.

Parents deserve support too, not just medical information.

After many years living with scoliosis, I continued to figure skate, completed a Master’s in Sport Psychology and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, and now support others as a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario. While this group is not therapy, I bring both my professional training and my lived experience to create a space that is educational, supportive, and compassionate.

Stop feeling isolated in the decisions and emotions scoliosis brings, and start feeling connected, supported, and confident alongside other parents who truly understand.
